Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, the distribution of marital property and child custody battles. child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions, as well as issues involving children's welfare. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019 she assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This proved her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Subsequently, in 2014, she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. The primary role she played was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of abuse or negligence at the hands their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she served as a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law - custody, divorce and child maintenance as well as guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the goal of providing a customized approach to each client's need.
