Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement matters as well as step-parent adoptions, private party adoptions as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019 and assists parties in helping them resolve their matters without need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes and also court-appointed mediations for people who wish to avoid court processes and litigation.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts contributed greatly to helping children who suffered in the face of neglect or abuse at of their caregivers or parents. Her dedication to fighting social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she served as a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness regarding human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017 she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law - custody, divorce, child maintenance and guardianships and financial and estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
